The Kings Mountain Volunteer Fire Brigade (KMVFB) oversees and supports the Kings Mountain Fire Department (KMFD) in its mission to prevent loss of life, personal injury, property damage, and environmental harm caused by fire, natural disasters, vehicle accidents, and other emergencies. In addition, KMVFB manages the Community Center building and grounds and fosters civic and social engagement among Kings Mountain residents.
The Brigade is governed by a board of local community members. Its primary funding comes from community donations and proceeds from the annual Kings Mountain Art Fair.
KMVFB is also grateful for the ongoing support of San Mateo County through special funding mechanisms such as Measure K, a half-cent countywide sales tax. In 2024, the County provided $50,000 to upgrade the Community Center’s Wi-Fi, and in early 2025, awarded $150,000 toward the purchase of the Fire Department’s new Rescue 56 vehicle. Additionally, with the La Honda Fire Department’s leadership, KMVFB participated in a joint grant that funded the installation of a new Advanced Resource Center (ARC) to support CERT volunteers during emergencies.
