Ready to make a difference in our community?
When disaster strikes, neighbors helping neighbors can make all the difference. The Kings Mountain Community Emergency Response Team (KM CERT) is here to prepare, protect, and support our community—and you can be part of it. Kings Mountain CERT offers free training in first aid, search and rescue, fire safety, and more.
The Community Emergency Response Team Program educates people about the hazards that affect our community and trains them in the basic skills needed to respond effectively when emergencies happen.
CERT members learn to:
· Prepare themselves, their families, and their neighbors.
· Safely respond to emergencies when professional help may be delayed.
· Support firefighters, medics, and first responders with critical information and manpower.
· Assist with non-emergency projects that improve community safety year-round.
In a large-scale emergency, emergency resources, can quickly be stretched thin. That’s where CERT comes in. With CERT training, community members receive training to
· Protect their family and home in a crisis
· Give immediate support to neighbors until professional responders arrive.
· Provide useful information and assistance to first responders once they are on scene.
CERT is a positive, realistic approach to emergency preparedness. People will always step in to help others during a disaster—CERT ensures they do so safely, effectively, and with confidence.
CERT training is a 20-hour course held over six weeks, covering:
· Disaster Preparedness & Terrorism Awareness
· Fire Safety

· Residents looking for a meaningful way to volunteer and connect with others.
No prior experience is needed—just a commitment to learn and serve.
